I am Cathy Chang, a photographer and filmmaker exploring the beauty of life on Earth. I am grateful that we meet here in this lifetime.

 

I was born and raised on the mysterious border of Western China, and I spent over twenty years in a fascinating educational journey through China, Russia, and the United States. In my nearly seven-year career, I have ventured into various fields such as advertising, television, film, and new media, taking on different roles and responsibilities. I have also received the "Asian American Story Film Award".

 

My dream of making movies began 12 years ago with a message in a bottle, leading me to meet a group of aspiring filmmakers. Today, many of them have achieved their dreams and become leading directors, martial arts choreographers, and other top professionals in China's film industry. They planted the seeds of courage in me, which brought about a profound change in my life.

 

8 years ago, I wrote my own film story and created my first short film reflecting the development and customs of China's central and western regions. This marked the beginning of my journey as a director, and I owe this path to the guidance and support of my family. My grandfather was a film equipment technician, my father was a cinema manager, my aunt is a TV station director and film producer, and my uncle is the vice president of a film association, a renowned supervisor, producer, and director in China.

In the early stages of my career, I relied on my own efforts to learn and grow in various industries, accumulating valuable experience and resources. Now, with my hard work and my family's support, I have secured my own film project, which is set to begin filming next year.

My work is not just about expressing my own perspective and views; it is also about exploring different worlds, times, emotions, and life forms in depth. I aim to convey emotions through the lens and tell stories that are often overlooked. Whether it's documentaries, feature films, or commercials, I always strive for sincerity and innovation.

我是常楚云，一个正在探寻地球生命美好的摄影师和影视工作者，感恩这一世我们在这里遇见。

我在神秘的中国西域边境出生长大，先后在中国、俄罗斯和美国的教育旅程中度过了精彩的二十余年时光。在近7年的职业生涯中，我涉足了广告、电视、电影以及新媒体等不同领域，担任了各种职位，积累了丰富的经验，并获得过“亚裔美国故事电影奖”。

 

我的电影梦想始于12年前的一个漂流瓶，那时我结识了一群怀揣梦想的电影人。如今，他们中的许多人已成为中国一线的导演、武术指导等影视制作人，他们也为我种下了勇气，彻底改变了我的人生。

 

8年前，我写下了属于自己的电影故事，创作了第一部反映中国中西部发展及风土人情的短片，开启了我的导演之路。我特别感谢家人的指导和培养：我的爷爷是影视设备技术员，我的父亲是电影院经理，我的姑姑是电视台台长和影视制作人，我的舅舅是影视协会副会长，是中国知名的监制、制片人和导演。

 

在职业初期，我凭借自身努力在各个行业学习与成长，积累了宝贵的经验与资源。如今，凭借自己的努力和家人的助力，我已拿到了属于自己的影视项目，计划在明年投入拍摄。

我的作品不仅仅是表达自己的视角与观点，更是对不同世界、不同空间的探索，以及对不同情感和不同生命的深入研究。我希望通过镜头传递情感，讲述那些被忽视的故事。无论是纪录片、剧情片，还是广告短片，我始终追求真诚和创新。
